Name that candy bar

9/30 Thrifted dress and bag; Charlotte Russe belt; Payless wedges

This is another one of those pieces that I've considered hemming...I think it'd be super cute it if hit right above the knee, but maybe after the whole midi-length thing goes back out of style. What do you think?

I actually wore this a few days ago to a baby shower. Now I'm sure I'll want kids sometime down the road...but being around all things baby for a few hours pretty much confirmed that I don't want them anytime soon. I think the 'name that candy bar' game will do that to you...

  1. I love this dress! I think the length is perfect.  Maybe you can wear it a few more times like this and then hem it.  It will be like a new dress!
Oh man, I dislike baby shower games!  I threw one for my bff not too long ago and she insisted on NO baby shower games

  2. Hmmm I think you could get away with wear the dress is but IF you wanted, you could bring up the hem line just above the knee ….it would give a completely different look to the dress…

  3. Yuck yuck yuck!  I hate that game!  This dress is perfect for a baby shower though.  The pattern kinda reminds me of little bubbles, which reminds me of an actual shower, which seems appropriate :)

  4. I've totally been eyeballing these wedges at Payless, you have me sold on them now!  I adore this look, go vintage!

  5. I agree with you - i say stick with the length until the mid-length fashion is done with, then you can redo it :) beautiful flowy dress either way :)

  6. That game is nasty! I am in no rush to have kids either.

I'm barely 5 feet tall, so I hem almost everything I buy. Sometimes shorter girls can be overwhelmed by too much material, so I keep my skirts/dresses at the knee or just above. I think your dress looks cute, especially with heels.

  8. My favorite part about that website was the suggestion to play Name That Candy Bar with your kids as bonding time. Yikes.
I agree with some of the other commenters. Wear it like that for a while and then hem it when you need a change! Too cute!

  9. The dress is very cute, love the bag too. I'm a 'hold onto it before I decide' type of alter-er. I like to wear things once or twice before I decide how short I want them. But this dress I think you are right would look nice a little shorter.

  10. Oh...that is the most disgusting thing...I have never played that game at a shower and I think I would politely refuse to play it if asked...My kids poop has never smelled anything like candy!!
I love your dress...you look adorable!

  13. Eww, people really play this game?! I guess I haven't been to enough baby showers! Anyway, I love the dress and I'm digging the longer length, especially with those wedges. (By the way, are you having better luck with those?)

  14. Haha, I just played the candy bar game this weekend too. I can't decide if the fact that I did so well at it means I am slightly unhealthy or I am just going to be an amazing mother someday...
Also, either length your dress looks great!

  15. I feel like I have walking in them pretty much down...or at least I haven't fallen down again.  And yes, people really play this!  Everyone else was really into it too.

  16. Hello! I would like to start off by saying that I love your dress I think this length is fine. I really like how it looks with those shoes and the brown bag. I feel the same way about having babies lol. I'm just not ready right now.LITTLE PETITE BLOG

  19. Oh man, bonding time?  So glad I was never subjected to that as a kid.

  20. Yeah, the name that candy bar game is pretty rough. Especially when some of the women actual taste what is inside!

  21. Ew, I've never played that game - and I'm so glad I haven't!

I like the length on that dress, but if you wanted to try it out shorter and see if you like it, you could always tape the hem up a little higher on the inside, and then iron the bottom so it looks crisp. I have yet to try that on any of my dresses, but I've been meaning to :)

  22. Why do people think weird, creepy games like that are acceptable to play at baby showers? *Shudders*

I do think the dress would be cuter shorter, but that is because I'm having trouble falling in love with this midi trend. Trying, but failing.

  23. Ugh!  I despise that game!  I went to a baby shower shortly after having my own son where they played that game and I couldn't get myself to play.  I saw enough dirty diapers day in and day out, why pretend?  And why waste diapers?!

What a pretty dress with a fun print!  I can see how it would be cute shorter, but it's also nice the length it is.
