This week has been a little hectic, but definitely in a good way. I loved being home for the holidays and spending time with my family. I especially loved hanging out with the little bro, who apparently looks like me or something.

I managed to make it through the snow back home just in time for New Year's Eve. I hope all of you have a safe and wonderful night tonight!

My plans tonight are to:
  1. Wear something sparkly
  2. Eat fondue
  3. Drink champagne
  4. Hopefully take pictures that I can share next week.
What are your plans?

Everyone, I'm pleased to introduce pictures from my new camera. Pictures from my new camera, this is everyone.

I got a shiny new PowerShot for Christmas, and so I no longer have to use borrowed cameras to take my outfit pictures! This is very exciting, also because I need to do a better job of documenting my life. That's one of the reasons that I started this blog to begin with, because I realized the only pictures taken the whole time I've been in college are ones tagged on facebook, and while I used to always keep a diary, that eventually stopped around my junior year.

Anyway, it's nice to have a new medium to be able to look back on and not only see what I was wearing, but where I was in my life.

Another day, another flannel

Dillards blazer; Anchor Blue flannel; Pacsun necklace and jeans; Thrifted belt; Kohl's boots

This is one of those outfits that I was kinda proud of for coming up with. I thought adding a blazer to an otherwise lumberjack-inspired outfit polished it just the right amount. I'm also pretty sure Liz Lemon wore something like this once.

Anyway, I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas! I know I sure did. The necklace and jeans were gifts from the little bro this year, he has pretty good taste right?

I also got a leopard Snuggie, and I honestly have no idea how I ever lived without one of these before. I've always laughed at the idea of a blanket with sleeves, but now I totally get it. And never want to take it off.

What cool things did you guys get for Christmas?

Twas the night before Christmas

I'll try and keep this short and sweet, because the sooner I go to bed, the sooner it will be Christmas morning!

Today I was put in charge of decorating Christmas cookies and this was my attempt: As you can probably tell, I'm no artist, but I thought they were cute :) (the bacon one is my favorite).

Anyway, a very merry Christmas from me and the little bro above. I hope everything you wanted is under the tree this year, but more importantly than the gifts, I hope you spend the day with people you love.

Sick day

I was supposed to drive home today, but instead I spent the day sick in bed watching a Man vs. Food marathon. Definitely not what I had planned, but I'm feeling better now and will probably take off in the morning. Which means I should probably start packing soon. And by that I mean gather all my laundry and put it in my car.

On a happier note, the roommate and I are cat-sitting until May. I think I'm in love:

I meant to post this outfit a long time ago, but my posting schedule got all out of whack when I went on vacation. Here it is though, my holiday/end of the semester party outfit. It was actually a pretty casual party, but I've been dying for an excuse to wear these sparkly tights, so I just went with it.

Speaking of the end of the semester, I got a 4.0 this semester. Not that I'm trying to brag or anything, but I'm so excited about it because it's the first time I've gotten one since I was in high school. I was an honors student as an undergrad, but I never failed to get a B in at least one class (usually the easiest one) every semester. Now that I'm in grad school...there really aren't any easy classes, and so I think that's why I managed to get all A's. Make sense? Good.

And now, back to our regularly scheduled programming

Express jacket; Wet Seal tee and boots; American Eagle jeans; J. Crew necklace

Well, I'm back from my much-needed vacation, and let me tell you, I kind of didn't want to leave San Francisco. Except at some point I would have run out of money, and I was starting to miss the sun (it was cloudy all but about 2 of the days we were there). So I'm (hopefully) back to a regular blogging schedule, which is good because I feel sooo behind on all my reading / commenting.

Anyway, things I love about this time of year:

Sales. I keep accidentally buying myself stuff when Christmas shopping. I'm finally done though, and my presents are all wrapped in a pretty little pile and ready for me to take back home.

Eggnog. Fact: this is the most delicious kind that you will ever have, and it's not even that hard to make. Seriously, if I can do it, you can do it.

Being lazy. This is actually a rare thing for me to be able to do. I have a tendency to keep my schedule pretty full during the school year, and this is actually the first winter break in about 5 years that I haven't been working the whole time. This year I'm fortunate enough to not have to work, which means way more time for spending with loved ones.

What do you love about this time of year?

Go if you wanna go, but I won't follow just so you know

Guess what you guys? I remembered to take pictures today! Not a whole lot, but it's progress.

Ferry Building:
San Fran

Our chocolate tour was pretty awesome, I might just be snobby and never eat a Hershey bar again. Unless I get some in my stocking this year, of course. I'm not wasteful.

This is in some fancy-schmancy hotel:

Be sure to wear some flowers in your hair

Okay, first things first. I might want to move here.

Secondly, I always forget to take pictures. I'll work on it the next few days, but here's a couple of me the boyfriend snapped today to hold you over:

I solved my packing problem by deciding on a uniform for the week:

Sweater + Scarf + Belt + Jeans + Boots = Outfit. It's not the most exciting, but it works.

I haven't done any shopping just yet, only browsing. And by browsing I mean drooling over everything in Anthropologie before the boyfriend dragged me out. I definitely plan on returning later this week though.

Tomorrow we're going on a chocolate tour, which I'm very excited for, and hopefully I'll remember to take pictures of that so you can all be jealous. I promise to eat a piece for each and every one of you :)

Packing is hard

We're leaving tomorrow for San Francisco, and I'm soooo excited!

Want to know what I'm not excited about though? Packing. I just have a really hard time committing to only taking certain things with me. It's only for 6 days, but what if I pack my cognac boots, and on day 4 I really really want to wear my black boots? Or what if I spill coffee on myself every morning and run out of clothes on day 3 because I only brought 6 outfits? It's a lot of pressure. Maybe if I think of it as a mini-30 for 30 it'll be easier. I'll call it 'However-many-items-Lydia-can-cram-in-a-suitcase-for-6.

Or maybe I'll just bring an empty suitcase and do a lot of shopping.

Speaking of shopping, since being done with the 30 for 30, I've bought one belt from Salvation Army for $1, and yesterday I bought paisley Steve Madden flats from Goodwill that might not go with anything but I don't care because they were $4. I also donated a big pile of clothes too.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Not exactly the look I was going for

Not exactly the look I was going for

It's very weird to have access to my whole closet again, I still find myself drawn towards my 30 items, and I have to make myself stay away from them. Are you guys who are finished also having that problem?

Anyway, it's a rare things that you'll see my hair up, but I was inspired to try this hairstyle after seeing Plummy doing it and how good it looked on her. You cant's see it too too well in these pics, but it was super easy to do in the morning, and I didn't even have to touch it all day. I'm hooked.

Overall, I was going for a milkmaid-in-the-Swiss-Alps-meets-equestrian but all I got all day were comments that I looked like Princess Leia. Not exactly what I was going for, but oh well.

In other news, finals are over!!! Thank goodness. Tonight I'm celebrating by going to an ugly sweater party and drinking marga-tinis. It should be awesome.

The Dirty Thirty

As promised, here are all 30 of my outfits:

1-45-89-1213-1617-2021-2425-2829-30

Wow, that's kind of intense looking at 30 of me huh?

Anyway, I'm really glad I participated in this challenge. I thought it would be way harder than it actually was. I mean, I could probably even keep going. But I won't. Because I really miss the rest of my clothes. Seriously though. I've learned a lot. I put together outfits that I never would have thought to put together. I feel like the rest of my closet has so much potential, I seriously don't even know where to begin. (Seriously though, as I'm typing this, I have absolutely no clue what to wear today)

Looking at all the outfits, my cognac boots are a clear winner for being the most worn item. My plaid shirt ended up being a lot more versatile than I thought it would be, as did my yellow cardigan. I'm also really proud of wearing jeans in less than half of the outfits! For me, that's quite a feat.

One thing's for sure though, after this whole thing I'm definitely going to shop a lot smarter. Don't get me wrong, I definitely plan on doing some serious shopping soon, especially in San Francisco, but no more buying things that won't easily mix with other items in my closet. I don't want to even keep things in my closet that are like that. Sometime over winter break I'm going through everything and either figure out how to wear things that I don't wear, or get rid of them.

Anyway, it's time to study again. Be sure to tune in tomorrow to see clothes that you've never seen before. Excited? I am. And now it's time to pick your favorites y'all! My absolute favorite is probably 24, but I also really like 5, 13, 15, 22, and 27.
