Productivity

This is me finally getting creative with my scarves. Aren't you guys proud?

As much as I'd like to be writing this post from a beach, or somewhere exotic, I'm actually doing it from my apartment....in my pajamas.

It's okay though, I've really been enjoying staying home and doing productive things this weekend like cuddling with my cat and playing Angry Birds.

My other plans for the week include cleaning out my closet, beating my high score on DoodleJump, and maybe, if I get really bored, doing some homework.

Oh well. How was your weekend?

I don't have much green in my closet, and the few things I do have, like this skirt, are kind of hard to style. I don't own much navy or pink either, and I'm not sure how flattering the shape is either. But then I remembered these bright tights I got from Target a few days back and I just went with it.

Anyway, I don't have class on Fridays so in just a few short hours I'll be on spring break! My plan is to celebrate tonight by drinking irish car bombs, and then to do as little as absolutely possible for the next week.

Counting down

It's actually been warm enough to go without tights lately, but my cat is a total spaz and scratched all the way down my leg the other day when he was falling off of our couch. So tights it was.

This weekend I saw Red Riding Hood. Which should probably win the award for most awful movie, ever. But it was definitely worth the $8 because it was so unintentionally hilarious.

I also worked at a Relay for Life carwash this weekend. And by worked, I mean I stood on the side of the road holding signs and yelling my head off at the cars driving by. I got a lot of dirty looks and even more creepy stares, but there were quite a bit of nice people who stopped to get their cars washed.

Other than that, I was a lazy bum for the rest of the weekend. Only one more week until Spring Break though! I'm seriously counting down the hours.

A post-birthday post.

Holy moly where did my weekend go? Where did my Monday go too, while we're looking for things.

This outfit is from my birthday (Thursday). I've been having some great luck thrifting lately, and this dress is a recent thing I picked up. It's probably too short to wear without tights, but I'm also thinking it'll work tucked into a pencil skirt? (Doesn't everything though?)

Also, thank you all so much for the birthday wishes! You're the best. Seriously.

I went home to see my family this weekend, which is always nice and relaxing. I got some awesome shoes that I'll debut later on, some of these babies to hang in my apartment, and 4 lbs of Red Vines, among other things.

And just to clarify, Red Vines > Twizzlers. Always.

Also, my legs are not sunburnt.

So it turns out, when you live in a small town you get some strange looks when you wear colored tights. I wanted to tell them, "Hello people, red tights* are perfectly okay in bloggy land and other places outside of southern New Mexico. Don't worry about it. Also, my legs are not sunburnt. And you are not funny."

Okay maybe a little funny, but not original for sure.

*They're actually the same ones that I wore here, but then I layered them over black ones so they ended up a more maroon-y shade.

Oh well. I also finally got myself a stripe-y shirt, even though it's been like a month since Breton Stripes day. I also don't own any polka dots, and the polls are showing those will be next. Looks like I have an excuse to go shopping.

It's complicated.

So despite my mopey-ness Sunday night, I had a really amazing Valentine's day with the-boy-formerly-known-as-the-boyfriend (referred to hereon as 'the boy'). If you're confused...well, join the club. If my facebook relationship status was truthful, instead of single it would say 'it's complicated'. Because it is.

At the risk of going into too much personal detail though, I'll just stick with telling you how Monday went.

I woke up to doritos and yellow tulips on my car before I went to they gym. Anyone can do roses and chocolates, but yellow is my favorite color, and I could seriously eat salsa verde doritos with every meal.

After I got back home, I read the card and all it said was www.omglydia.com. (The video doesn't work on internet explorer just so you guys know.) Hands down, coolest thing anyone has ever done for me.

And then after I spent all day at school grinning like an idiot, I went to the boy's house that night for wine and cupcakes. It was like a first date almost. Like starting over.

Anyway, I'll try to talk about my outfit next time instead of my relationship ups and downs. And how was YOUR Valentine's day? Please tell me you bought chocolate on sale today.

1st day of school

I wasn't intending to take a day off from blogging yesterday, but one bad thing kept happening after another and I couldn't bring myself to change out of sweatpants.

Today, however, will be awesome. It's the 1st day of class, for one thing. (I originally though I'd start the 18th because I'm leaving for San Antonio today, but we're not leaving until a lot later tonight). Which is very exciting in itself, because I've been itching to get out and do something other than sit around my apartment all day. (It's been nice not working or going to school during the break, but also very boring.)

Anyway, I was feeling "inspired" again today, this time from this outfit that Kendi wore. I always have a hard time figuring out what to wear with printed skirts, because I don't want to be too matchy-matchy, but I also don't want to look like I get dressed in the dark.

I do like how this turned out though, and although the location isn't super exciting, it's a change from my parking lot, which is always nice.

I probably won't have another post until Monday, so have a great weekend!

New year, new look, new Lydia

If you follow me on twitter, then you know that I got a haircut this past weekend. This is a big deal because I think it had been since June since I'd had a cut, and I was in need of a change, even if it was a small one. The wind wasn't doing me any favors while taking pictures today though, so here's a better picture of the cut.

Bonus points if you got the Degrassi reference in the title! It's slightly addicting if you've ever seen it. And slightly, I mean I spent all day Saturday and Sunday watching a marathon of it. So much for being any kind of productive.

Hope you all are having an awesome Monday!

Here in this diary

Everyone, I'm pleased to introduce pictures from my new camera. Pictures from my new camera, this is everyone.

I got a shiny new PowerShot for Christmas, and so I no longer have to use borrowed cameras to take my outfit pictures! This is very exciting, also because I need to do a better job of documenting my life. That's one of the reasons that I started this blog to begin with, because I realized the only pictures taken the whole time I've been in college are ones tagged on facebook, and while I used to always keep a diary, that eventually stopped around my junior year.

Anyway, it's nice to have a new medium to be able to look back on and not only see what I was wearing, but where I was in my life.

All that sparkles

I meant to post this outfit a long time ago, but my posting schedule got all out of whack when I went on vacation. Here it is though, my holiday/end of the semester party outfit. It was actually a pretty casual party, but I've been dying for an excuse to wear these sparkly tights, so I just went with it.

Speaking of the end of the semester, I got a 4.0 this semester. Not that I'm trying to brag or anything, but I'm so excited about it because it's the first time I've gotten one since I was in high school. I was an honors student as an undergrad, but I never failed to get a B in at least one class (usually the easiest one) every semester. Now that I'm in grad school...there really aren't any easy classes, and so I think that's why I managed to get all A's. Make sense? Good.

27 Dresses

Okay, so maybe these shoes aren't in my 30 items. But instead of cheating, I'm going to refer to this as 'gently easing my way back into the rest of my wardrobe'. Who knows what will happen when I have access to my entire closet, and so I believe that doing it slowly will be much safer. It's about safety people.

Actually, I was going to wear my purpley-pink shoes with this but it didn't quite go together right with the tights and I was worried that I would look either color blind, or like I dressed in the dark. Plus I wore this to a scholarship breakfast where I'd be around a lot of accountants, and most accountants can only handle so much color at a time. Again, I'm only thinking about safety.

And if this doesn't make much sense it's because this time of year I'm only able to function because of my frequent starbucks visits, and the motivation that a week from now my semester will be over.

It was freezing outside, but I just had to show off my scarf-belting skills underneath all those layers. My brother has an awesome scarf collection, and so I took advantage of it as much as I could while I was home.

I'm also very obsessed with these boots, as you can probably tell. This challenge should have just been called "30 ways that Lydia remixes her awesome cognac boots", and it probably wouldn't have differed that much. (Except for my purple-y pink shoes worn here and here, I'm definitely glad I included those).

In other news, only one more week of school, one week of finals, and then this semester is over! I seriously cannot wait, and then I just have one more semester to go until I graduate, and become a grown-up, or something.

Shades of Grey (No. 15)

15 Shades of Grey

So it turns out, when you only have 30 items to wear you have to do laundry a lot more often. Usually I do it about once a month, and so I am definitely not used to this. (Don't judge, I am in college and quarters are hard to find sometimes)

However, if it wasn't for my need to do laundry I probably would not have come up with this outfit, which I really really love. I'd been wanting to do an all-grey look ever since Shea over at Bon Chic Bon Gastronomique did it a few weeks ago.

Two.

Have you voted today? I'm going to go do that as soon as I post this. I tried to do it this morning but I'm in a different precinct than I thought apparently, and so I had about 20 elderly people stare at me while I figured out where I was supposed to go.

(I wish you could tell in the pictures, but the skirts actually navy blue.)

I didn't notice until after I took these that I pushed my sleeves up, I have a tendency to do that even when it's cold out for some reason. I think it's because I have a too-short sleeve phobia, (along with a high-waters phobia). I think growing up it was an issue because I was so tall, although I stopped in middle school and have been 5'6 ever since. I'm actually the shortest one in my family now, but every once in a while I'll have to buy my jeans in a tall or a long. Do you guys ever have to do that? It's pretty annoying to be a different size everywhere I go.

I'm wearing fairly boring jewelry, but it's better than nothing. The leaf necklace is from F21 and the ring is from Pacsun I think.

Anyway, happy election day! I don't know about you, but I'm the most happy about not having my radio or hulu interrupted all the time from all the stupid ads.
