Productivity

This is me finally getting creative with my scarves. Aren't you guys proud?

As much as I'd like to be writing this post from a beach, or somewhere exotic, I'm actually doing it from my apartment....in my pajamas.

It's okay though, I've really been enjoying staying home and doing productive things this weekend like cuddling with my cat and playing Angry Birds.

My other plans for the week include cleaning out my closet, beating my high score on DoodleJump, and maybe, if I get really bored, doing some homework.

Oh well. How was your weekend?

It's complicated.

It's complicated.

It's complicated.

It's complicated.

So despite my mopey-ness Sunday night, I had a really amazing Valentine's day with the-boy-formerly-known-as-the-boyfriend (referred to hereon as 'the boy'). If you're confused...well, join the club. If my facebook relationship status was truthful, instead of single it would say 'it's complicated'. Because it is.

At the risk of going into too much personal detail though, I'll just stick with telling you how Monday went.

I woke up to doritos and yellow tulips on my car before I went to they gym. Anyone can do roses and chocolates, but yellow is my favorite color, and I could seriously eat salsa verde doritos with every meal.

After I got back home, I read the card and all it said was www.omglydia.com. (The video doesn't work on internet explorer just so you guys know.) Hands down, coolest thing anyone has ever done for me.

And then after I spent all day at school grinning like an idiot, I went to the boy's house that night for wine and cupcakes. It was like a first date almost. Like starting over.

Anyway, I'll try to talk about my outfit next time instead of my relationship ups and downs. And how was YOUR Valentine's day? Please tell me you bought chocolate on sale today.

Excuses, excuses.

Oh hey look, an outfit post. I feel like it's been a really long time. Aaaaand I'm sorry.

I really intended for this to be an easy semester. But for some reason I signed up for three pretty time-consuming classes, have a 20 hour a week graduate assistantship, and I'm president of my honor society. This all equals a lot of time spent at school, and not much time to spend reading blogs and making outfit posts. But I'm working on it, because I need that me time, or else I'll probably go crazy.

On a lighter note, I'm so excited for all of you who are doing the 30 for 30 in February! I really struggled with deciding whether or not to do it this time around, and ultimately decided against it for a few reasons.
  1. It's been a little less than two months since I participated in the last one, and I still feel like I haven't 100% reacquainted myself with the rest of my closet. It's too soon.

  2. Southern New Mexico doesn't really have well defined seasons. November through March means 50-70 degree temperatures for the most part. I'd love for my next 30 for 30 to be a warm-weather one.

  3. I'm also hesitant to commit to daily outfit posts until I figure out how to better work blogging in my schedule this semester.
Excuses, excuses, I know. I am, however, going to participate in the No-Shopping ban. My wallet and my bulging closet needs it.

1st day of school

1st day of school

1st day of school

1st day of school
Target sweater, tights and socks; Wet Seal skirt; Kohl's boots; Thrifted belt.

I wasn't intending to take a day off from blogging yesterday, but one bad thing kept happening after another and I couldn't bring myself to change out of sweatpants.

Today, however, will be awesome. It's the 1st day of class, for one thing. (I originally though I'd start the 18th because I'm leaving for San Antonio today, but we're not leaving until a lot later tonight). Which is very exciting in itself, because I've been itching to get out and do something other than sit around my apartment all day. (It's been nice not working or going to school during the break, but also very boring.)

Anyway, I was feeling "inspired" again today, this time from this outfit that Kendi wore. I always have a hard time figuring out what to wear with printed skirts, because I don't want to be too matchy-matchy, but I also don't want to look like I get dressed in the dark.

I do like how this turned out though, and although the location isn't super exciting, it's a change from my parking lot, which is always nice.

I probably won't have another post until Monday, so have a great weekend!

Copying and Telling

So I had one of those mornings where I hated everything in my closet and had no idea what to wear. So I'll call this "inspired" by an outfit Linley wore last week, even though I pretty much flat-out copied it.

In other news, I went and saw Tron earlier today, which I thought was pretty awesome. Best soundtrack I've heard in a long time. I've never seen the original though, but I just put it on my to-watch list.

I'm also going to see Harry Potter in a couple of hours, because I'm probably the last person on earth who hasn't seen it yet. I just don't like crowded movie theaters...and I really don't have much else to do before school starts.

Seen any good movies lately?

It's Friday I'm in love

Are you tired of this location yet? Me too, but I haven't had the need to leave my apartment all week long, so the parking lot it is.

And I liked this outfit a lot when I came up with it, but I'm not too crazy about the pictures for some reason. Maybe I needed a necklace or a belt, or maybe the lighting is just weird.

Oh well, I wanted to share it anyway because the button-down is a recent purchase and it's one of the few red things I own. Plus I was having a good hair day, and the only other people who got to see it were my roommate and the cashier at Target.

Anyway, I don't have any exciting weekend plans, I just started reading Watership Down so most of my weekend will probably be spent finishing that. I hope you guys have a lot more exciting things going on!

This week has been a little hectic, but definitely in a good way. I loved being home for the holidays and spending time with my family. I especially loved hanging out with the little bro, who apparently looks like me or something.

I managed to make it through the snow back home just in time for New Year's Eve. I hope all of you have a safe and wonderful night tonight!

My plans tonight are to:
  1. Wear something sparkly
  2. Eat fondue
  3. Drink champagne
  4. Hopefully take pictures that I can share next week.
What are your plans?

Another day, another flannel

Dillards blazer; Anchor Blue flannel; Pacsun necklace and jeans; Thrifted belt; Kohl's boots

This is one of those outfits that I was kinda proud of for coming up with. I thought adding a blazer to an otherwise lumberjack-inspired outfit polished it just the right amount. I'm also pretty sure Liz Lemon wore something like this once.

Anyway, I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas! I know I sure did. The necklace and jeans were gifts from the little bro this year, he has pretty good taste right?

I also got a leopard Snuggie, and I honestly have no idea how I ever lived without one of these before. I've always laughed at the idea of a blanket with sleeves, but now I totally get it. And never want to take it off.

What cool things did you guys get for Christmas?

Sick day

I was supposed to drive home today, but instead I spent the day sick in bed watching a Man vs. Food marathon. Definitely not what I had planned, but I'm feeling better now and will probably take off in the morning. Which means I should probably start packing soon. And by that I mean gather all my laundry and put it in my car.

On a happier note, the roommate and I are cat-sitting until May. I think I'm in love:

We're leaving tomorrow for San Francisco, and I'm soooo excited!

Want to know what I'm not excited about though? Packing. I just have a really hard time committing to only taking certain things with me. It's only for 6 days, but what if I pack my cognac boots, and on day 4 I really really want to wear my black boots? Or what if I spill coffee on myself every morning and run out of clothes on day 3 because I only brought 6 outfits? It's a lot of pressure. Maybe if I think of it as a mini-30 for 30 it'll be easier. I'll call it 'However-many-items-Lydia-can-cram-in-a-suitcase-for-6.

Or maybe I'll just bring an empty suitcase and do a lot of shopping.

Speaking of shopping, since being done with the 30 for 30, I've bought one belt from Salvation Army for $1, and yesterday I bought paisley Steve Madden flats from Goodwill that might not go with anything but I don't care because they were $4. I also donated a big pile of clothes too.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Madam President

I've been slacking a little bit on the blogging front lately, but this last week of school has just been so intense. I don't even have awesome pictures to make up for it, these are more of the blurry, indoor lighting variety.

Tonight I'm going to a banquet for my honor society, which I just got elected president for! I'm super excited about it, and it's such a huge honor.

When I was a freshman I would have never imagined that I'd be the person that I am today. I used to be so shy and never talk to anyone in my classes. I never had any desire to join any clubs or organizations, and I especially never wanted to lead one!

But here I am, and it's great to be here.

Twenty, twenty, twenty four hours to go

Wet Seal jacket; Charlotte Russe blazer and dress; DKNY tights; Ross belt; Kohl's boots; Scarf borrowed from my brother.

It was freezing outside, but I just had to show off my scarf-belting skills underneath all those layers. My brother has an awesome scarf collection, and so I took advantage of it as much as I could while I was home.

I'm also very obsessed with these boots, as you can probably tell. This challenge should have just been called "30 ways that Lydia remixes her awesome cognac boots", and it probably wouldn't have differed that much. (Except for my purple-y pink shoes worn here and here, I'm definitely glad I included those).

In other news, only one more week of school, one week of finals, and then this semester is over! I seriously cannot wait, and then I just have one more semester to go until I graduate, and become a grown-up, or something.

Forever Twenty-One

photo-27
Maurices Sweater and Belt, Aeropostale Jeans, Kohl's Boots

Only one picture for this outfit, It was windy and I wanted to go inside. I almost didn't want to post this because I feel like I'm wearing jeans a lot, but when I looked at my last 8 outfits, I only wore jeans 3 times, so it's obviously all in my head.

Anyway, I'm super excited for tomorrow. I'll have to look in my 30 items for the stretchiest things to wear. I plan on eating a lot, you guys.

Wet Seal Dress, Aeropostale Tights, Kohl's Boots, Charlotte Russe Belt, Pacsun Purse

I'm two-thirds of the way done, so excited! (I don't have super remixing powers, I just started on November 1st.) This weekend all I wanted to wear was leggings and these boots, and so that's what I did. They are just so darn comfy. Add a gingerbread latte and it was a pretty fantastic weekend.

I'm going to my parent's house tomorrow (it's about a 5-hour drive, yuck), but I'm excited to see my family and eat good food! What are your Thanksgiving plans?

PS Notice anything different? Special thanks to Kimmie over at Blue Paper Lanterns for the awesome header and making it look a little brighter in here!

These colors are a little hard to see, my sweater and tights are actually really dark brown. I'm also still obsessed with these boots, as you can probably tell.

Anyone have any fun weekend plans? We're having a sushi party tonight, but other than that I'll probably just be doing homework.

You guys, I had a really cute outfit planned for today, but it included a skirt, and it was windy, and so jeans and a thermal it was. Hopefully my sparkly necklace (that my hair kept blocking) makes up for it.

In other news, I bought my tickets to go to San Francisco over winter break today! And when I say I bought them, I mean my boyfriend's parents did. They are so nice. Definitely looking forward to all the shopping, and we're doing a chocolate tour and a wine tour. That's 3 of my favorite things in the world, all in one sentence. Soooo excited.

Cardigan-New York+Company, Dress-Charlotte Russe, Belt-Ross, Socks-Target, Boots-Kohl's

I discovered that the little boy's section is an awesome place to find belts. This one was only $2 at Ross.

I think these socks were really cheap too, the only problem was they kept slipping below my knees all day. Is there a trick to get them to not do that?

Anyway, I'm so excited that so many people are participating in this challenge! I wish I had time to keep up with all 337 of them, but I'll definitely try, in between sleeping and putting off doing homework of course.

P.S. I just realized that I dressed a lot like Tania today with the whole cardigan-dress-tall socks-boots combo, who dressed a lot like Kendi. In other words, I am not very original. But I know you guys won't judge me, right?
